Apple flexes healthcare muscles with new wearable device

The device will run on an upgraded OS by Apple and will collect health data

The health sector is a promising new area for smartphones and Apple is already setting foot in this region with its wearable health-monitoring device. Apple announced at the WWDC that an upgraded mobile operating system for smartphones and tablet devices will be brought forth in the autumn and the new watch-like wearable gear we just talked about is going to run on this new OS. The basic trick lies in the OS which is going to be equipped with a centralized function to manage users’ biometric information via smartphones. We should be expecting to see this in the markets by October.

The services of the product are not known as yet but the specs are bein finalized so we might get lucky to land on a few of them. According to some sources, the wearable device is going to sport a curved organic light-emitting diode (OLED) touchscreen. It is going to collect all sort of health related data including calorie consumption, sleep activity, blood glucose and blood oxygen levels. Users of the device will also be able to read their messages which they have received on their smartphone.

A parts manufacturer has let out a little piece of information which says that Apple is currently planning monthly commercial output of about 3-5 million units, which exceeds the total global sales of watch-like devices last year. We can clearly see that Apple is feeling very confident about these devices. And there is nothing wrong with that because Apple knows what it’s doing; it has teamed up with the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic, U.S. health institutes based in Minnesota and Ohio. This partnership is going to let Apple develop ways to analyze the collected data so it can be rightly applied to actual health management.
