Apple Music Streaming Service to Cost $10 per Month

New report from Wall Street Journal says that Apple will charge $10 per month for its Music Streaming Service.

Now that the Google I/O 2015 is behind us the next developer conference has us captivated again. The Apple WWDC 2015 will kick off with the keynote next week Monday, June 8. While the WWDC 2015 will be mostly about iOS 9 and OS X 10.11, after all it is a developer conference, there are some consumer product releases expected. One of them is the Apple Music streaming service. Apple spent big with the high profile acquisition of Beats to get music prowess.

The Wall Street Journal reports that people familiar with the plans have revealed that Apple wants to charge $10 a month for the Apple Music Streaming service. There will be not a free ad-supported tire. Apple is though supposed to keep iTunes Radio free and enhancing it with channels hosted by human DJs.

The WSJ report says that according to music-industry estimates iTunes users spend on average $30 per year on music. An Apple Music Streaming subscriber would earn the company and music labels $120 per year.

I am personally not ready to spend $120 per year on music. I listen mostly to radio and then cherry pick songs that I buy on iTunes that I need to have in my playlists. I am spending indeed just around the $30 per year the industry insiders estimate. 

While most expect that the Apple Music Service will be unveiled at the WWDC 2015, there are new reports that the new Apple TV service offering will not be revealed. Apple is rumored to offer live TV via a new Apple TV box including local channels. The licensing deals are though very complicated and negotiations with TV networks are still ongoing. Re/Code reports that the new Apple TV subscription service is going to be pushed back to fall or even 2016.
