- Apple Has Threatened iPhone ad iPad Accessory Makers That Start Making Accessories Before The Official Launch
Apple has decided that it will ban iPhone and iPad accessory makers that start designing accessories based on the leaks they find on the internet.
This is becoming a trend in the smart phone world. Just before the official launch of a phone we start to get its leaked photos all around the internet. We saw that with the Google Nexus 6 and we also saw that people started making Nexus 6 accessories even before its official launch.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 is still not officially launched but we can find all sort of websites that are selling S6 covers which are based on those leaked photos. Apple on the other hands wants to make sure that no one starts to make phone accessories based on leaks.
Apple has also threatened companies that make these phone accessories. 9to5Mac learned that just before the iPhone 6 was launched, Apple sat down with the leading accessory makers and Apple made them sign an agreement which said that all of them are barred from seeking information about Apple devices.
Apple also told them that if you don’t agree to their terms then you could lose future business opportunities that Apple or any of its affiliates /4/present them. People want to get phone cases as soon as they buy the phones.
Now imagine if the customers and the accessory makers get the phones on the same day. Then obviously it is going to take some time in designing the phone covers. So then people will have to wait to get their phone covers.
This agreement will be in the best interest of the accessory makers as now they won’t have to guess and make phone covers based on rumors. Now the case makers will have the phones in their hands and they can design the cases more efficiently.
And according to the new agreement, the accessory makers will have to make the covers which are based on specifications released by Apple. Apple also told the vendors that weren’t willing to sign on the agreement that their products would be banned from the Apple store.
Apple also managed to remove almost 60-70% of third party cases from its retail stores. Some sources say that they did this to make room for their Apple Watch.
