Armored Van Crash sends loads of cash flying

Van driver and passenger are ok

I’ve always wondered just how armored the vans you see driving around from armored car firms like Loomis actually are. Recently the robustness of an armored van owned by Loomis was put to the test when it lost control on icy roads and crashed.

The van reportedly collided with a truck heading the opposite direction on a road near Flint, Michigan. The van was carrying nearly a million in cash at the time of the accident. The impact was severe enough that some cash and change from inside the van spilled out onto the road reports Dailymail.

Loomis employees were sent out to shovel up the money that was spilled in a parking lot nearby. The driver of the van and one worker in the back of the van were taken to the hospital to be treated and are listed in stable condition.

The van reportedly did a 180-degreeturn and came to rest in a parking lot off the road after the accident. Neither driver was cited for any driving infractions. It’s unclear how the driver of the truck faired after the collision.

I wonder how the Loomis workers inside the van reacted in the accident. They are tasked with protecting the money in the truck, it’s unclear if either were able to get out and try to protect the cash. It’s also unclear if all the money has been recovered from the accident. I can only image picking up tons of loose change would be annoying.
