Benedict was nominated three times for the leading actor category but never won the award

Benedict Cumberbatch missed out again and it was the Jason Watkins who was named the best leading actor at Britain’s top television award on Sunday. Cumberbatch’s series Sherlock, however, won the Radio Times Audience award, edging out Cilla, Games of Thrones, Eastenders, The Great British Bake off, The Missing and Strictly Come Dancing.

According to Reuters, the 38-year old Benedict Cumberbatch, who is best known for hit TV series Sherlock, was once again nominated in the Leading Actor category for portraying Sherlock Holmes and it was the third nomination of the Cumberbatch for the same series. But he lost out again and the award went to Jason Watkins who played the title role in “The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies.” Watkins made a very emotional speech after receiving the award.
