Beyonce is going to perform gospel standard “Take My Hand, Precious Lord” which will segue into Common and John Legend’s Golden Globe winning track Glory for the movie “Selma”
Last year, Beyonce kicked off the show on Grammy stage with a sexy, sultry and exotic performance of her hit song “Drunk in Love” with hubby Jay Z. Last year went supreme for the pop star as she won multiple awards for her self titled hit selling album “Beyonce”. This year, she will be taking on a much serious stance on the 2015 Grammys stage.
It is undeniable how great a name “Selma” has made for it self. Based on the true events from 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches led by James Bevel, Hosea Williams, and Martin Luther King, Jr. of SCLC and John Lewis of SNCC, the movie has been nominated for multiple awards this season including the esteemed Oscars.
In those nominations has been the Original soundtrack for the movie “Glory” created and sung by Common and John Legend; who also starred in the movie as James Bevel. The track has been released at a critical time when civil rights and police injustice is once more a hot topic in the USA right now. The song has captured the essence of a century worth of civil rights movement.
It has been recognized for its worth by winning the Golden Globe award for the best Original Soundtrack. The artists were excited for winning the award and Common gave an inspiring speech about the cause and motivation behind the song which includes lines about the recent events in Ferguson and police shootings as well.
This award season, the Grammy has asked the artists to perform this inspiring track onstage. They won’t be starting the song as it is. A song this amazing required a great start and who better to give it than Beyonce? Beyonce has been confirmed to perform the Gospel standard “Take my hand, Precious Lord” which has been shown to be Dr. King’s favorite in the movie.
She will be performing the gospel which will then segue into Common and John Legend performing “Glory”. Common has confirmed the performance to multiple sources including RollingStone and USWeekly and he said that Beyonce would be perfect to open the performance. Beyonce will be introduced on stage by Gwenyth Paltrow.
