Blackfeet Native Actress Misty Upham Missing Person

Native American actress Misty Upham’s been reported missing by her father, Charles, and was last seen on Oct. 5.

Native American actress Misty Upham‘s gone missing. Indian Country Today Media Network reports the Blackfeet woman was last seen on the Muckleshoot Reservation in Washington on Sunday, Oct. 5.

Her father Charles sent a note out to the media, asking for any clues or help on her whereabouts:

Award Winning Native Actress, Misty Upham-best known for her roles in: August Osage County, Jimmy P and Frozen River, is a Missing Person. She disappeared on Sunday, October 5, 2014. She was last seen walking from her sister’s apartment in Muckleshoot, Washington. Misty is considered an endangered missing person due to a medical condition. She has not been in contact with her family or friends since her disappearance. If anybody has any information or has been in contact with Misty since October 5, 2014. You are asked to contact the Auburn police department (253) 288-2121, case no. 14-13189.

ICTMN confirmed that a report is on file and is listed as missing. As of yet, no information has been provided on the medical condition but it’s easy to assume medical care is imperative.

E! Online notes that Misty played Johnna Monevata, caregiver to Meryl Streep‘s character in August: Osage County, and the role earned a SAG Award nomination. In fact, Upham was the first Native to ever walk on the Cannes Film Festival carpet. She also played an illegal immigrant trafficker in Frozen River, which earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Female.

In the meantime, The Hollywood Reporter dug up a little more information. Police officials spoke to Reuters and said the department had responded to a suicide call, but the Frozen River actress could not be located.

On Thursday, Oct. 9, a friend named Jaime Rubio posted on her personal Facebook wall that the actress was missing. She also claimed the actress /4/be “actually within forests/woods of Seattle, WA because she was a huge fan of nature.” If so, perhaps the human rights activist doesn’t know people are worried.

However, that same day, the family updated Upham’s page with the following message:

Misty is still missing… We requested that the Washington State Endangered Missing Person plan be implemented. The Detective said supervisors on the case are considering this request but feel it does meet the criteria at this time. We tried to organize a search party from the Muckleshoot tribe [which Upham recently visited] but they do not have funding available at this time. They offered to do a email blast to all their employees with her missing poster. Right now it’s just her father and brother searching.

Unfortunately, negative commentators didn’t see the value in listening to the family’s plea. Not long after the original posting, an update read:

Due to negative comments we are no longer requesting financial support… We are very heartbroken and afraid at this point. Please do not post any negative comments, it is hard enough to deal with our missing daughter, we don’t need the added accusations or blame. Just know we are doing everything within our means to bring our daughter home safe. Meanwhile, her agent Richard Kerner seemed annoyed by THR‘s phone call on the missing star. “I don’t know anything about it. I don’t know that there’s any reason to suspect that it’s an issue. That’s all I can say.”

Hopefully someone will come forward with information on where Misty Upham is located and if she needs help. If you know anything, please contact the request authorities by family.
