The fears of the footprint getting larger than the S5 have been put to rest

Though it has been a while since we have been hearing about the Samsung Galaxy S6, but we still haven’t seen any leaks of live images. Fortunately, we have had tons of leaks and they have been enough for us to devise a fairly accurate picture of what the phone is going to look like. But what is of more value if the information which the case manufacturers have got because they seem to have a more accurate view of the upcoming Samsung flagship. We did see a couple of case renderings but the dimensions seem to be in full view in this latest set of drawings.

One of the first things anyone noticed in the drawings was the size of the device. There were plenty of worried faces at the thought of Samsung extending its footprint, making it difficult to handle the phone with one hand. But after seeing the images, these thoughts have been put to rest. Samsung understands that they have to mark the boundary between their normal smartphone and phablet range; as for the phablet range, they have the Note 4 placed there.

The inner dimensions of the case are 143.5 x 70.7 x 7.2mm which are more or less the same dimensions of the Galaxy S6 and are not so varying from the 142 x 72.5 x 8.1mm dimensions of the Galaxy S5. Moving on, from the cutouts at the back of the casing, we can see there’s a pretty large spot reserved for the camera as well as a large sensor cluster. The layout has been changed here however the left side of the phone remains pretty Samsung-like with volume rocker and the right side holds the power button.

Other things fitting into the cutout include a microphone, USB port and a speaker which in the previous generation was at the back of the phone. At the top of the phone is going to be a 3.5mm headphone jack and a secondary noise-cancelling microphone.
