Chevrolet makes its 2016 Volt affordable

With the full $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles, the new Volt will come in at $26,495

For all those who had been drooling over the 2016 Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid but were worried about their budgets would be glad to know that Chevrolet’s latest development isn’t so much out of reach.

You would get extremely lucky if you are entitled to the full $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles because then the Volt would cost you a total of $26,495. And you’ll get even luckier if you happen to live in California since the state-level credits will bring the price down to $24,995. This sounds like an amazing deal because it is slightly lower than other competitive offerings from the likes of Ford, Honda or Toyota where we are looking at starting retail prices of $25,000.

The battery usually goes strong on these electric vehicles but with the Volt, things seem to go a little further than that. It has been built with a giant battery which doesn’t run out easily and most parts your trips would be handled on electricity alone which serves the purpose just right.

The original Volt had come with a 40-mile range and this was more than enough since most Americans didn’t commute for more than this mileage. However, things have been taken a notch further with the Volt’s massive battery which allows a ride for up to 50 miles till the engine kicks in for the electric motor.
