Chevy Volt 2016 Plug-in Hybrid unveiled at NAIAS 2015 in Detroit

General Motors‘ Chevrolet unveiled its next-gen Chevy Volt 2016 Plug in Hybrid at NAIAS 2015 in Detroit on Monday. General Motors claims that Chevrolet Volt 2016 Plug in Hybrid is “the customer inspired car”. Chevy Volt 2016 has been designed for the average man. Whether that holds true or not we do know that the General Motors took the suggestions of current Volt owners and tried to make the 2016 Volt presented at the Detroit Auto Show 2015 better. 

How the Chevy Volt 2016 displayed at the NAIAS 2015 is different and more improved from previous generation? First, it is important to know what suggestions were given, most customers wanted to see an increase the EV range and to make the vehicle more fun to drive.

Chevrolet wanted to deliver, so when the crowds came to NAIAS 2015, people wanted to see if General Motors could and they did. Through revising the battery-cell chemistry, General Motors have been able to increase the storage capacity, reduce the number of cells.  

The result was clear where once 17.1 kWh could be stored the Chevy Volt 2016 at NAIAS 2015 can store 18.4 kWh. That’s only the tip of what GM has done to improve the 2016 Volt that was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show 2015.

How did Chevrolet make the 2016 Volt, seen at the NAIAS 2015? Increase the enjoyment in driving the 2016 Volt, GM added four driving modes, normal, sport (gives more power and aggressive acceleration), mountain (engine and battery work together to overcome steep obstacles) and hold (forces EV for highway driving and maintain battery charge). 

These modes offer the driver a variety of ways to enjoy the 2016 Volt and with increased acceleration how could the 2016 Volt not be fun.

Those were the stats of the 2016 Volt that was unveiled at the NAIAS 2015, let’s take a look at the design. General Motors has really worked hard to make the 2016 Volt stand out at the Detroit Auto Show 2015.

With an all new design, sleeker and more sports oriented look which gives it a more graceful, attractive look. The interior has been revised giving  simplicity in use yet still placed ergonomically.

The 2016 Volt unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show 2015 included Apple’s Carplay and MirrorLink’s car infotainement system options in the menu. CarPlay option is actually built-in and it is a surprise considering that it was missing in the production model of GM.

The Android Auto system is missing, but with the release of the Volt being in the summer sometime Chevrolet has enough time to add Android Auto into the vehicle menu, with Carplay and MirrorLink. At the NAIAS 2015 Chevrolet has jumped into the war on dashboard control and seems to be ahead of the game.

Chevy Volt 2016 Plug-In Hybrid that is unveiled at the NAIAS 2015 on Monday has set a new level for Plug-In Hybrids, it offers 18.4 kWh battery system, increased acceleration and it is now ahead on leading the dashboard wars, with the inbuilt Carplay and MirrorLink systems in the menu.  

Chevy Volt 2016 Main Features:

• New two-motor drive unit is up to 12 percent more efficient and 100 pounds lighter (45 kg) than the first-generation drive unit
• Two-motor design enables 19 percent stronger zero-to-30 mph acceleration
• Battery capacity has increased to 18.4 kWh using 192 cells (96 fewer than current generation) with weight reduced by more than 20 pounds
• Regen on Demand™ feature enables driver control of energy regeneration via a convenient paddle on the back of the steering wheel  
• New 1.5L range extender, designed to use regular unleaded fuel, offers a combined GM-estimated fuel efficiency of 41 mpg (EPA estimate pending)
• Stronger body structure and quieter ride
• New braking system with improved capability and blended Regen feel
• New, five-passenger seating with available rear heated seats
• Location-based charging capability
• 120V portable cord set has a simpler, compact design with more convenient storage location
• Available illuminated charge port

The Chevy Volt 2016 will go on sale in the second half of 2015.

This year at the Detroit Auto Show 2015, the halls are filled with bright colors, new designs, and futuristic cars. NAIAS 2015 is where over 25 cars have had their world debut. New designs, with sleeker looks, powerful engines, not to mention the newer sleeker looking hydrogen engine cars. The Detroit Auto Show 2015 is eye candy overload for the car lovers. One can become lost in the beauties that grace the floor of the NAIAS 2015. 

Among the world debut cars at the Detroit Auto Show 2015, you will find the Mercedes, Audi, Honda, Jeep, Acura, Nissan, Porsche, Alfa Romeo, Toyota, Chevrolet, Infinite, and Ford. These are just a few of the companies that have world premiere cars at the Detroit Auto Show 2015.  

There are a number of noteworthy cars at the Detroit Auto Show 2015 that look splendid and are truly breathtaking. One is the 2016 Acura NSX, a car that’s plug was originally pulled back in 2005, ten years later at NAIAS 2015 it is back, the ‘Real One’ not the supposed one that was shown back in 2012. Slighter wider and heavier than the original, it still retains its sleek, sporty look and still remains the everyday car for the everyday person. 

Another car the NAIAS 2015 that caught the eye was the 2017 Ford GT: The Star-Spangled. This truly is a car that is eye candy not just one, but a jar full, it is a bombshell. The aerodynamics are beyond belief. Ford has out doe itself at the Detroit Auto Show 2015.

It might even be considered the show stopper. Looking at it is impressive, but its stats are even more, with over 600 HP, full carbon-fiber construction and body panels. It is now a part of the exotic cars and it can hold its own among them. 

Another Ford that stood out at NAIAS 2015 is the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R.  Race car fans will love it, the designers took an already fabulous car and made it better. It is designed to dominate the racetracks in speed and looks. 

The Buick Avenir Concept that had its debut at the NAIAS 2015, is a flagship car from Buick and it’s breathtaking. It is one of the surprises at the Detroit Auto Show. It is new, sleek, low, four door sedan, with rear drive, it dominates with flagship presence. 

These are but a few of the amazing debuts at the Detroit Auto Show 2015, the tip of the iceberg as one might say. This year marks the year of new concept flagship vehicles that are setting the trend for the future, the return of favorites, made better, more beautiful and powerful.

The Detroit Auto Show 2015 or NAIAS 2015 is home to the future of automobiles with sleeker designs, newly designed hybrids, with new concepts and old ones that have been made better, race cars, sports utility  vehicles and that’s only naming a few of the vehicles that are there. 

2015 North American International Auto Show started on January 12th in COBO Center, Detroit, Michigan and it will end on January 25, 2015.
