The 24th James Bond movie will see Christoph Waltz star opposite Daniel Craig.
Christoph Waltz who is a two time Oscar winning actor has now joined the James Bond legacy. He is all set to play an important role in this 24th untitled Bond movie that will start to film next month. A source familiar with the screenplay explained that the role of Waltz is going to be a complex one and it is not clear whether it’s of a friend or foe or both.
However someone has revealed that the role he is going to play is going to be of the villain and are we once again going to experience this German actor as a bad guy. Well that is still a mystery as a Bond 24 spook stated that because Waltz has played as a bad guy in many other movies it does not mean that he is going to be a bad guy once again.
Daniel Craig and producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have already met Waltz while other cast members Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux and Rory Kinnear are scheduled to meet with him within the next three weeks for a script read through.
Director Sam Mendes has expressed that he wants his screenwriters on hand to talk through some of the films amazing action sequences. It has been heard that the teams of Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are likely to be present there and maybe joined by Jez Butterworth as well.
Butterworth who is a close friend of director Sam Mendes was contacted and asked by Sam to give the Bond 24 script a polish and look into the action scenes. The movie is set to shoot in Mexico, Austria, Morocco, Italy and obviously London, the heart of MI7.
Variety reported in April that 12 Year a Slaves Chiwetel Ejiofor would be casted as the Bond villain which now does not seem so. It was also confirmed that the new M would be played by Ralph Fiennes and Moneypenny would be replaced by Naomie Harris.
It was also announced that the French star of Cannes hit Blue is the Warmest Colour; Lea Seydoux would also be casted in the Bond movie. Moreover Bill Tanner who played the role of MI6 chief in Skyfall and Quantum would be replaced by Rory Kinnear.
Waltz has previously given some great performances and has won Academy Awards for performances in Quentin Tarantino’s famous Inglorious Bastards and Django Unchained. He was seen playing the role of a German intelligence officer who was known as the ‘Jew Hunter’ and left the audiences awe struck with his brilliant performance.
Waltz has spent considerable time in the United Kingdom this year as he is filming the Tulip Fever and Tarzan for the Warner Bros. Both these movies will be in cinemas next year. Well if Waltz is in the Bond movie he surely will leave a mark on the Bond legacy with his outstanding performance.
