Warner Bros. set the release date for American Sniper to Christmas Day.

Clint Eastwood is pulling a fast one again on his fans. His movie American Sniper hits theaters already on Christmas Day of this year. It was not expected until next year.

American Sniper, starring Bradley Cooper, will be released limited and expand in mid-January. American Sniper is based on the autobiography of Chris Kyle. Chris Kyle was the best Sniper in American military history with 160 confirmed kills. He claimed 255. The highly decorated Navy Seal died last year in a shooting. A 25-year-old veteran shot and killed him at a shooting range in Texas.

Besides Bradley Cooper the cast includes Sienna Miller, Max Charles, Luke Grimes and Kyle Gallner.

Initially Steven Spielberg was to direct American Sniper, but he dropped out. Clint Eastwood took over and American Sniper is now already considered a favorite candidate for an Oscar. There is not even a trailer yet for American Sniper, but considering the great story and Clint Eastwood an Oscar is definitely in the cards.

We will soon hear more about American Sniper now that the release date is still this year.

American Sniper is not the only Clint Eastwood movie this year. Jersey Boys opened in June. Watch the trailer for Jersey Boys below.

It is amzing to me how 84-year-old Clint Eastwood is able to still direct movies. Is he the oldest director ever? Woody Allen is “only” 78.
