Yesterday we published our current take on the Black Friday 2014 schedule. We predict the first Black Friday sale to start on Halloween. Now Consumer Reports cites an analyst that sees Black Friday starting even before.
Consumer Reports: Black Friday 2014 Starts before Halloween
The Black Friday 2014 sales season will start in about one month. We pinned Halloween (Friday, Oct. 31) as the day for the first Black Friday sale this year. Black Friday is since years not a single day event anymore. It spawns the whole month of November. Now Consumer Reports cites Phong Vu, CEO of DealScience saying that: “This year, we’ll likely see Black Friday sales starting before Halloween,” Phong said.
The argumentation is that retailers want to make sure to be first to get your Holiday money. In the last years Black Friday sales started at the beginning of November. I still stick though with our prediction that the first Black Friday sales are on Halloween and not before. Halloween is on the Friday before the first November weekend. It makes sense for retailers to pick this Friday as start of their early Black Friday sales events. As more and more retailers join the early Black Friday trend, deals will likely to be more attractive. Shopping Black Friday early already made sense in the past years and it will make even more sense this year.
