Siri vs. Cortana – Happy Anniversary is the title of the new ad that Micorosft launched recently for its latest Windows 8.1 operating system for mobile devices.
Microsoft is already in the process of rolling out its new Windows Phone 8.1 OS for all the WP8 devices. And the tech giant has launched a brand new ad that shows all the exciting new features of Microsoft’s latest OS including its very own voice assistant, Cortana.
Microsoft has currently launched Cortana in beta for US users only. However, it will soon roll it out in UK and China. For that, Microsoft recently launched a new video ad that promotes Cortana by comparing it with rival Apple‘s voice assistant: Siri.
The ad shows how Cortana is much more advanced than Siri and other voice assistants. Microsoft pits an iPhone 5S against a low-end Lumia 635 in this ad that shows what Cortana can do what Apple’s Siri can not.
Cortana can perform tasks like scheduling, reminders (for both people and locations), giving updates on weather, traffic alerts for meetings and bringing the latest news depending on your interest. Siri cannot do all this, as the ad depicts.
See the video ad below.
“Cortana will remind you to leave early to beat traffic and help you get to your destination on time, will remind you that you need milk when passing the grocery store, and will remind you to say happy birthday when your mom calls. Available now on the new Nokia Lumia 635 and on other Lumia phones,” states Microsoft in ad description.

Cortana is available for download in the US in beta for all Lumia smartphones via Lumia Cyanupdate and also for other WP8 devices. “Now that is a smart phone,” said Siri on Lumia phone at the end of the comparison in the ad.
