“DeSean Jackson has talked enough trash in his NFL career to fill a dumpster. Apparently his victims aren’t limited to players on the field. 

“The Washington Redskins wide receiver caught a touchdown pass to give his team the lead over the Minnesota Vikings in the third quarter Sunday.

“After Jackson returned to the bench, he received a few kind words from a Vikings fan in the front row. Jackson’s response wasn’t exactly kid-friendly.

“We can understand jawing at an opponent in the heat of the game, but spewing profanities at a fan in the stands seems a bit excessive. 

“Unfortunately for Jackson, Minnesota got the final word, as Matt Asiata’s touchdown late in the fourth quarter sealed a 29-26 win.”

The Washington Times’ Zac Boyer discusses Jackson’s big day — he hauled in four catches for 120 yards and a touchdown — on Sunday:

“DeSean Jackson had done it with Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy as his quarterback. On Sunday, he also pulled in a reception for more than 40 yards with Robert Griffin III playing the position.

“Jackson had four catches for 120 yards and a touchdown in the Washington Redskins 29-26 loss at Minnesota on Sunday, continuing to be the deep threat that the team sorely lacked when it added him as a free agent in the offseason. 

“The wide receiver caught a 45-yard pass in the first quarter, a 56-yard pass in the fourth quarter and also added a 13-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter.

“Jackson has now more than 100 receiving yards in five of the Redskins’ nine games this season, including nine receptions of more than 40 yards and five of more than 50 yards.

“He could have potentially had one more: Jackson was Griffin’s intended target on the ‘Hail Mary’ attempt as time expired, but the pass fell incomplete. 

“‘I mean, honestly, it’s a heartbreaker situation,’ Jackson said. ‘We definitely felt good about coming into this game and winning it, but regardless, the same as any given Sunday, you still have to prepare and play 60 minutes. It was just one of the things that we didn’t go whole-hearted. It was definitely tough.”

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden weighs in on the loss to the Vikings, per The Washington Post’s Keith McMillan:

“It bothers me. We had a lead. We got down. We came back to get the lead. We let them drive 80 yards to take the lead. We got back down to score and take the lead. We go back down to score and take the lead. We go down to take the lead and they come back again.

“Very, very very sickening.

“I’m disappointed. I thought our defense would play a lot better than that. No turnovers again I think. It’s not good enough by any stretch. Hats off to the Vikings first of all. Mike Zimmer’s a hell of a coach. Teddy Bridgewater played a great game.” 

The 27-year-old Jackson has caught for 6,901 yards and 36 touchdowns on 392 receptions in 96 career regular-season games for the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins, per ESPN stats.
