Director James Gunn recently answered some questions about Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and let out a few tidbits, including who’s back, who’s gone, and who’ll be appearing.

Guardians of the Galaxy was an unexpected hit for Marvel last year and director James Gunn is already opening up about what to expect in Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

Gunn recently opened up on the Periscope app and discussed what to expect in latest film.

One thing for sure is to expect Karen Gillian back as Nebula, adopted sister of Zoe Saldana’s Gamora, and shooting starts in Atlanta next February.

Atlanta is home to Pinewood Studios in America and with the next two Star Wars films starting production soon, the move was a logical one. Ant-Man wrapped up at the American studio last year. And later this year, Captain America: Civil War is set to begin filming in Atlanta.

Marvel seems to like the city. And James Gunn, too, since he added the Guardians of the Galaxy press tour stop at Dragon Con in 2014.

Screen Rant reports that he recently turned in the pitch and treatment to Marvel, who called the plot risky but loved the concept.

“I turned in my treatment. I’m going in to meet about it Friday and we will start working on the screenplay next week,” the director said earlier this week. His process is plot, then write.

Also there’s very little improv on set, but that doesn’t mean things can’t change if new lines fit the characters completely. Another hint he offered is a deeper look into the Guardians, like the fact audiences will meet the Star-Lord’s father and see how heroes aren’t always the best guys for a job. But Ronan’s still very much dead.

Plus, you can expect Space Knight to make an experience. What director wouldn’t put a favorite character in if possible?

Screen Crush is reporting that Gunn’s 70 pages into the script, which is no small feat for a film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Granted, the cosmos section isn’t grounded on terra firma, but all things must align.

Now that creating the core Galaxy team is done, the hardest part is over and he can enjoy the sequel more. He did point that “We don’t do motion capture for Rocket and Groot,” so the visual effects team mostly uses references pictures, which makes the lack of Oscar a little more painful for fans.

Plus, Gillian /4/actually get to keep her hair this time. The film will also star Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, and Saldana. Expected movie premiere date for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is /4/5, 2017.
