This is Drake’s fourth album to top the charts despite having no promotion base and no classic release.

Drake’s fourth album has hit the fans by a storm. It’s titled ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late’. If the title is too touchy, the album is anything but that.

The album debuted at the Billboard Top 200 at No. 1 spot. It also broke the record held by the album of the artist himself on Spotify. This record breaking performance on Spotify and it’s high multi-metric consumption played a significant role in the album’s debut on the top.

The album’s traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA) moved 535, 000 units in it’s starting week ending on February 15th. The new set of album was released on the evening of Thursday, Feb. 12 through Young Money, Cash Money and Republic Records.

Nielsen reported that the pure album sales have ended at 495, 000 copies. The experts predicted 500,000 and the sales have shied away at about a half million from the predicted figures but that number is compensated by online success of the album.

Considering that Drake calls it a mix-tape instead of a proper studio album, it has been the highest selling album since Beyonce’s self titled album in December last year and Eminem’s album in November, 2015.

This is Drake’s third highest selling album in the queue of his own albums and it is the highest selling album this year after Taylor’s Swift 1989.

The album has been released by Atlantic Records and it is a great time for the record company as it also sold the Fifty Shades of Grey original soundtrack album. It is also a high end selling album. Now accompanied with Drake’s bestseller, the record company is in its prime.

Drake’s official studio album, Views from the 6 is due to be released later this year and this album might be great practice for his studio album release.
