EA SPORTS unveiled a full feature set for its upcoming NHL 16 video game which is slated for a Sept. 2015 release.

Electronic Arts (EA) issued a press release from EA Sports GM Dean Richards on its official website on /4/19 regarding the matter:

“In hockey, success is a total team effort, the result of everyone understanding that you never do it alone. You have to play as a team and win as a team. This is something we took to heart when we started development on NHL 16.

“First we looked to our biggest fans and asked them to be a part of our team. We spent more time listening and working with them this year than ever before. Their most requested features and modes are in NHL 16 and include new experiences that make NHL bigger and better.

“In Hockey Ultimate Team you’ll now be able to play through single player offline seasons. In Be a GM, not only will you navigate the motions of draft day and manage your AHL affiliate team, but now you can manage the morale of individual players on your NHL roster throughout the season.

“Finally, Be a Pro brings back features like Sim to the Next Shift and the ability to start your career in the minors and also introduces a brand new progression system where you play on the ice, shapes who you become in the NHL.

“We know we can’t talk about team without mentioning the EA Sports Hockey League. This fan favorite mode has been reimagined to deliver a competitive and balanced experience, in favor of a new player class system.

“These player classes will be tuned to play together, each bringing their own strengths to the ice. The new EA SPORTS Hockey League is all about putting together the right mix of classes to support your team’s playing style, and then stepping on to the ice and letting your skill, not ratings, be the differentiator between being good and being great.”

Richards adds NHL 16 will bring back 6v6 online team play and Online couch co-op. The latter feature allows the user and three of his friends to compete against a maximum of four other players online, per EA.com.

NHL 16 features new gameplay innovations to enhance the user’s gameplayer experience, per Richards.

The Electronic Arts GM also says the latest version of his company’s NHL game will feature realistic arena atmospheres and players. The 2016 version will introduce mascots to make the gaming experience the best one ever, per EA.com.

EA Sports NHL 16’s official website goes into greater detail on each of the game modes players can choose from:

  • Be a GM: Player Morale — the user gets to act as a general manager in building his own NHL team. The GM can call meetings and adjust his roster as he sees fit.
  • Be a Pro: Shape Your Legacy — your on-ice performance determines the kind of player you will become in this new progression system. “On-ice actions directly influence attributes earned, ensuring that your Pro will reflect the way you play,” per EASports.com.
  • Hockey Ultimate Team: Single Player Sessions — the most popular mode of the EA SPORTS NHL franchise features improved player management and new HUT Single Player Seasons which hone a user’s gaming skills before he or she competes against other players.
  • Visual On-Ice Training — this is a new training pool which aims to improve a user’s skills.
An NBC Sports broadcast package featuring Don Emrick, Eddie Olczyk and Ray Ferraro will help bring the game to life, per EASports.com.
On April 1, EA SPORTS (via StanleyCupOfChowder.com) announced Boston Bruins left wing Daniel Paille will be the cover athlete of NHL 16.
