All of us have grown up listening to how beneficial yogurt is for our health and how it should be a part of a healthy diet plan. Well Spanish research team from Autonomous University decided to check out the whether yogurt actually made all the significant effects on health as it was said to.

There has actually been no research on what beneficial effects yogurt has on health.

The study was published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietics. 4,445 Spanish adults (all 18 years old and above and recruited between 2008 and 2010) the three years long study. The men were followed by researchers and evaluated the link between regularly consuming yogurt and mental and physical improvements in body as reflected by results from the SF-12 survey.

Esther Lopez-Garcia simply put the conclusion up and simple, regularly consuming yogurt was not associated with improvements in health-related quality life. The researchers took all factors into consideration while evaluating the results but there were no statistically relevant effects that could be recorded.

This study will definitely have an impact on the Dietary Guidelines which emphasize consuming dairy. The study suggested that dairy has been suggested to be consumed as a unit rather than individual product.

The researches conducted in the field suggest that yogurt contains calcium and vitamins. The vitamin helps strengthen bones, aiding in fighting osteomuscular illnesses, which can negatively impact quality of life. Others point to a connection with reduced weight gain, lower blood pressure and lower rates of cardiovascular disease.

Aside from Lopez-Garcia, Fernando Rodriguez-Artalejo, Pilar Guallar-Castillon and Luz Leon-Munoz also contributed to the study.
