Eddie Vedder Sings Better Man Farewell to David Letterman

Eddie Vedder performed an emotional rendition of their 1994 hit song “Better Man” on the Tonight with David Letterman after about 20 years.

It’s the countdown for David Letterman as his retirement looms in closer, the celebrities from the past revisit to meet the famous host and pay tribute to him in their own way. Actors will act, comedians will crack and singers and bands will sing their hearts out.

One of those singing stars is Eddie Vedder. Former lead singer of the rock band Pearl Jam and an actor for some time, Letterman said that his acting might be the highlight of his career as he introduced Vedder’s performance. 

Eddie performed on the show nearly twenty years later when he had first performed on the show with his band.

Eddie sand an emotional rendition of his 1994 Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks chart topping song, “Better Man” According to Eddie, he wrote the song before his legal drinking age but the song became popular in 1994. It stayed on the charts for 8 weeks.

He started the song on a light tone with only Paul Shaffer backing him up at the piano. It soon broke down into the rock song with CBS Orchestra backing him up. 

Eddie even broke a string on his guitar mid-performance but the man didn’t let that stop him from singing his heart out and do some cool guitar moves as well. 

Reminding each and every one of us why 80s and 90s rock rocked. Letterman gave the rocker a hug at the end of the performance saying “I will remember that.”
