Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd’s departure from The View shocked former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck in some ways.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck was really shocked when she listened about the departure of her former fellow co-hosts, Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy, from ABC’s talk show The View.
Sherri Shepherd confirmed about her departure from The View on June 26. “It’s been seven wonderful years on The View, and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on,” Shepherd said at the time of leaving the show.
And after her departure, Shepherd was thankful to her step-mom. She even tweeted about her second mom that is Barbara Walters’ supportive behavior.
Incredibly grateful to my second mom @BarbaraJWalters for pushing me beyond my comfort zone – it’s been amazing doing it scared! #joy— Sherri Shepherd (@SherriEShepherd) June 27, 2014
Later on Jenny McCarthy also confirmed about her departure. McCarthy said that she was leaving because Shepherd is leaving the show. And they are like sisters. She announced her departure via Twitter.
If Sherri goes… I go too. #sisters— Jenny McCarthy (@JennyMcCarthy) June 27, 2014
My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year.— Jenny McCarthy (@JennyMcCarthy) June 27, 2014
Elisabeth Hasselbeck stopped hosting The View in July 2013. But she remained on good terms with her fellow co-host Sherri Shepherd. Jenny McCarthy was hired in place of Hasselbeck.
Hasselbeck first heard about Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd’s shocking departure on Thursday, June 26th. And she shared her opinion about the cast changes of The View on Friday’s episode of Fox & Friends. The former View co-host admitted she hadn’t seen it coming.
“I was shocked, in some ways,” said Hasselbeck on June 27th. And when her fellow co-host Steve Doocy asked her about the reaction of Shepherd, she said, “I’m sure,” Sherri would also be shocked.
“Even if you think that might happen one day, I’m sure it would come across as a shock,” said Hasselbeck. But she clarified that she had not yet talked with Shepherd about the issue.
“I have not spoken to her in person yet,” Elisabeth Hasselbeck clarified. “Set to happen, though.”
The 37-year-old Survivor star has always remained on good terms with 47-year-old Shepherd since her departure from the show. And for Hasselbeck’s sake, Shepherd even made a guest appearance on Hasselbeck’s first episode of Fox & Friends in September 2013.
“We’re, like, attached at the hip,” Shepherd said at that time. “We’re like chocolate and vanilla…Oh, I’m gonna be here all the time.”
Whoopi Goldberg is the only host left after Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd’s simultaneous departure.
“Everything is up in the air,” a source told US Weekly. “They are figuring out what to do with Whoopi. It is still being decided.”
