Emirates
The new app is an extension to the already existing Emirates app on iPhone
The Apple Watch is on its way and it will be here in no time and this has presented the perfect opportunity for many developers who are trying hard to cater to the demands of the potential watch buyers and also use this platform to the maximum of its advantage. The airlines are just one segment and they will soon be making their announcements. Emirates has already taken its course and it has just unveiled an app for the Apple Watch. Their announcement sounds like it followed suit after the announcement by the UK-based easyJet revealed its own Apple Watch app.
Emirates already has an existing iPhone app and their new app is going to complement this one giving users the opportunity to review their upcoming trips, access real-time flight and journey information, receive timely notifications of gate or baggage belt changes, and access their boarding passes. The app will be launched in English, French and German. Alex Knigge, Senior Vice President, Digital at Emirates, stated “In today’s connected world, mobile technology plays an increasingly important role in the overall travel experience of our passengers.”
He further said, “The Apple Watch platform allows us to connect with travellers on a more personal level by providing real time information throughout their journey. Our team developed the Emirates app for Apple Watch with modern travellers in mind, making sure this wearable technology delivers key information, with a simple glance at their wrist.”
In order to take full advantage from this app, the buyers of the Apple Watch are going to have to install the app on their iPhones which is then going to allow them to use the various features. According to the Dubai-based airline, this app is merely going to be an extension of the app provided on the iPhone and will provide “context-specific data”.
