Ewan McGregor in talks to Play Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast

Ewan McGregor is being negotiated to star as Lumiere in the live action version of Disney’s ‘Beauty & the Beast’!

Ewan McGregor /4/be starring in the upcoming live action adaption of ‘Beauty & the Beast’ as producers are currently in talk with the actor. McGregor will be joining a cast which includes stars such as Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as Beast or the Prince and Luke Evans as Gaston the Villain. Other cast members include Josh Gad as Le Fou, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth and Audra McDonald as Garderobe. 

Lumiere is one of the most beloved roles from the animated version of Disney’s ‘Beauty & the Beast’. Lumiere used to be a maitre d’ who was transformed into a candelabra as a result of the curse casted on the Prince’s castle. Lumiere is most probably remembered for her solo musical performance in the song ‘Be Our Guest’ along with a number of other memorable moments. 

The 44 years old actor Ewan McGregor has plenty of experience to pull off the role as he notably sung before in Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film ‘Moulin Rouge’. The casting of McGregor isn’t official yet but it is not hard to imagine the Scottish actor playing the role magnificently as he is widely known for his quirky acting along with a charming smile. McGregor will recently be seen starring in the movie ‘Jane Got a Gun’ opposite Natalie Portman later this year.

Alan Menken will be making the score for the reboot as he did for the 1991 animated version which won two Academy Awards at the time. The original songs from the 1991 version will be used in the live action version but with versions and recordings. ‘Beauty & the Beast’ will be directed by Bill Condon and set to be released on the 17th of /4/2017.
