Facebook wants a piece is video calling action!

Video chats have become increasingly popular in the last few years as a mode of communication and Facebook is stepping into the app world of Video calling.

Facebook users can now use the Messenger app of Facebook to talk face to face with their friends or relatives. All the users need is a Wi-Fi or cellular network and they can start their chats by simply clicking on the video icon at the top. The service of video chatting will work on both Apple iOS and Android devices. 

Other popular video chatting app include including FaceTime from Apple, Hangouts from Google and Skype from Microsoft but Facebook believes it will have an edge over all the other apps as it allows users to switch from texting to video chatting spontaneously. 

Stan Chudnovsky the head of the Facebook messaging venture shared everything starts from texting and Facebook wants to evolve into more than a site where people simply share videos and pictures. 

“Everything starts from texting,” said Stan, head of product for Facebook’s messaging efforts. Facebook has also been working on its Messenger app to provide the users with a variety of services. The app /4/be able to make all kinds of communication services in the future from dialing calls to sending money between friends and customers. 

Facebook claims the new Messenger service provides the best service across all sorts of internet connections and networks. The Head of the Messenger app Chudnovsky said in a blog post that they wanted to make sure someone with a high end iPhone should be able to make a video call to someone in even a third world country like India easily on an Android phone.

Previously Facebook also revealed about 10% of all the audio chats on the internet occur through the Facebook Messenger.
