This was it. The Late Show with David Letterman is history. Last night the long running host of Late Night is retiring. Steven Colbert will take over the Late Show on CBS.
#ThanksDave is the top trending hashtag in the United States as fans of Dave Letterman say good-bye. David Letterman hosted his last Late Night Show on CBS. Steven Colbert from Comedy Central will take over the Late Show. This has been already announced a year ago.
David Letterman has been in Late Night television for over 30 years. He was hosting the Late Show on CBS for 21 years. The Foo Fighters of all bands have appeared on Letterman’s last show playing Everlong. They have been the only guests.
In the shows leading up to his last one, Letterman welcomed many iconic celebrities and performers including Bill Murray, Tom Hanks, Bob Dylan, Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Roberts, President Obama, Bill Clinton, Oprah and Howard Stern.
