Flappy Bird game developer says a new version is coming

Dong Nguyen: “I’m working on a new version of Flappy Bird.”

Flappy Bird game developer, Dong Nguyen, recently agreed to an interview with Rolling Stone in Hanoi, Vietnam. The interview, which has been published today, reveals interesting details about the life of the talented 28-year old developer.

Award-winning journalist David Kushner asked Nguyen if he is planning to bring back the sleeper hit game. The solitary geek responded positively, saying that he is considering it.

When the game hit number one in the App Store and Google Play, Nguyen said that he was shocked. “Seeing the game on top, I felt amazing,” he told Kushner.

He also confirmed that he was earning $50,000 a day before removing it in February. He still earns thousands of dollars, thanks to the millions of people who already downloaded the game.

Nguyen also hinted that he is working on a new version of Flappy Bird, but he jokingly added that it will come with a warning.

The success of Flappy Bird proved to be too much for the chain-smoking Vietnamese. After receiving countless emails and text messages of complaints from people who claim to be addicted to the game, Nguyen felt disturbed. “I couldn’t be too happy. I don’t know why,” he murmured.

For now, the Flappy Bird creator is enjoying life outside the spotlight. With tons of money in his bank account, he’s looking forward to buying two things: a Mini Cooper and an apartment.
