  • Running back Frank Gore came to terms with the Indianapolis Colts on March 10.
  • According to ESPN, his deal comes with $8.5 million in guaranteed money.

Former San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore agreed to terms with the Indianapolis Colts on March 10.

Frank Gore is now officially with the Indianapolis Colts.

According to Kevin Bowen of the Colts’ official website, Gore came to terms with the team on Tuesday, March 10, the first day of the league’s new calendar year.

A league source told ESPN Media Insider Adam Schefter on Tuesday that Gore’s deal will be similar to the three-year, $12 million one the Philadelphia Eagles were offering. His contract with the Colts also includes $8.5 million in guaranteed money.

Gore is turning 32 in May. Despite the risk in terms of age, he has still maintained a high level of productivity over the years. Bowen points out Gore and the Seattle Seahawks’ Marshawn Lynch are the only active running backs who have reeled off four straight 1,000-yard seasons.

Gore amassed 158 yards and 144 yards in the San Francisco 49ers’ last two games of the 2014 NFL season, per Colts.com. Not only is Gore still productive, he is also durable — he hasn’t missed a game since 2010. Bowen labels this as “durability the Colts have not had in the backfield.”

49ers general manager Trent Baalke spoke highly about Gore during last month’s scouting combine in Indianapolis, per Bowen:

“Frank’s just the Energizer Bunny, he just keeps on ticking.

“The last two games of the season, I think you saw what Frank still has left in the tank. A very good football player. One of the most passionate, if not the most passionate, football player I’ve ever been around. So, I still think he’s got it in him. I know that he still believes it.”

Gore previously agreed to terms with the Eagles over the weekend, but suddenly had second thoughts about signing with them, per ESPN. With Gore now with Indianapolis, Philadelphia has a huge void at running back after the team traded LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso last week.

Bowen adds the Colts /4/still look at selecting a high-profile running back in the 2015 NFL draft from April 30-/4/2.

The Colts are also looking to add free-agent wide receiver Andre Johnson, whom they will host on Tuesday evening. The Houston Texans released him on Monday, per ESPN. Johnson and Gore were teammates at the University of Miami.

In addition, NFL.com’s Chris Wesseling points out Gore also has ties with Colts head coach Chuck Pagano and associate head coach Rob Chudzinski, who are former Miami Hurricanes assistants. However, Gore told NFL media analyst LaDanian Tomllinson it is the presence of offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton which ultimately lured him to Indianapolis.

Wesseling describes Gore’s fit in Indy as “excellent” in Hamilton’s power-running scheme.

The 31-year-old Gore has amassed 11,073 rushing yards and 64 touchdowns on 2,442 carries in 10 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, per ESPN stats.
