Furious 7 breaks Box Office Record with $147 Million

Furious 7 is at the top of the weekend box office with over $147 million in domestic ticket sales.

Furious 7 makes a stunning $147.2 million at the domestic weekend box office according to numbers of Rentrak. The Furious 7 opening is the biggest movie opening since well over a year. This also much higher than the opening of Fast & Furious 6 in 2013, which opened with $97.3m.

The new installment of Furious 7 made an estimated $384 million at the World-wide Box office. Home is at a far distance with $48 million world-wide ticket sales. According to Box Office Mojo, Furious 7 ranks 9th in all time opening weekend box office chart (domestic), just behind Spider-Man 3 and The Hunger Games. The biggest weekend opening of all time belongs to Marvel’s The Avengers with over $207m.

Even after the tragic passing of Paul Walker, one of the key characters in the Fast & Furious franchise, Universal is not ready to end the hyper successful series.

Furious 8 is supposed to have Kurt Russell’s role expands in New York. There are supposed to be three more Furious movies planned. This means that there will be at least 10 Fast & Furious movies. This is not jet James Bond level, but it slowly is getting there.

Dominic Torretto and his crew thought they left the criminal mercenary life behind. They defeated an international terrorist named Owen Shaw and went their separate ways. But now, Shaw’s brother, Deckard Shaw is out killing the crew one by one for revenge. Worse, a Somalian terrorist called Jakarde, and a shady government official called “Mr. Nobody” are both competing to steal a computer terrorism program called God’s Eye, that can turn any technological device into a weapon. Torretto must reconvene with his team to stop Shaw and retrieve the God’s Eye program while caught in a power struggle between terrorist and the United States government.
