Andy Rubin and Terry Gou of Google and Foxconn respectively are busy discussing matters having to do with robotics. With Rubin’s vast experience and Gou’s rich background, it is a case of great minds meeting and sparks flying in the process.

There is an image in everyone’s mind of Foxconn as a tag-along partner of Apple Incorporated. But that is only half the story. The Taiwan-based giant has links with Google as well. The company has hooked up with the big daddy among search engines to exchange views on robotics and artificial intelligence.

Especially, Andy Rubin from the Android platform and Terry Gou of Foxconn have gotten together to concentrate on matters of mutual interest. The visionary thinking exemplified by both thinkers will reinvigorate the field of robotics.

Google is already famous for having taken over eight robotic plants. It is proud of its moon-shot mentality alright. And it has even worked for the Pentagon.

The latest efforts by the Big “G” focus on electronic manufacture. The fact that it has something in common with Foxconn only serves to synergize the two companies.

China is a market just waiting to be tapped. And Google is ready to take the plunge like Apple. The automation of plants for robots is somehow in the works.

Foxconn manufactures the odds and ends of equipment for many high tech firms. Google has just been added to the list. The future has been laid out as a time when human workers and soldiers will be replaced by robots. And these robots will be very real indeed.
