Google exposes Windows flaw early

Google publicly posted the details of a Windows 8.1 flaw before Microsoft could fix it

In this competitive marketplace, it is no big deal to see big companies pouncing at each other whenever they get the chance to but the unfortunate thing about these rivalries is that the consumers usually end up suffering and Windows users would know exactly what we are talking about here. This is because Google recently publicly posted the details of a Windows 8.1 flaw before Microsoft even got around to fixing it.

Following this apparently ‘immature’ act by Google, Microsoft publicly made a comment and the company’s security chief Chris Betz said that Google’s decision to publicly publish these details before the patch was on Microsoft’s schedule was not so much about principles but it was simply more about getting one over on its rival.

His statement was seen posted on Microsoft’s Security Response Center blog and he even added that the world would be a better place if companies remained silent about the flaws of other companies while they were trying to get them fixed. It is apparent that it isn’t a wise decision to tell the world beforehand about such problems because then there is a much higher chance of the users facing such troubles as hacking. He has also explained that for obvious reasons it takes some time for a company to come up with a patch which works perfectly and it certainly isn’t a good move if you are trying to pressurize the company to come up with a quick fix.
