CEO of Italian Eyewear maker spills beans on Google Glass 2.0.
Google has pulled the first version of Google Glass early 2015. The product faced widespread criticism for privacy violations. Google said that they are not stopping working on Google Glass. The new version might be closer than we think.
CEO of Italian eyewear maker Luxottica said this week according to the WSJ that a new version of Google Glass will be out soon.
“In Google, there are some second thoughts on how to interpret version 3 [of the eyewear],” Mr. Vian told shareholders. “What you saw was version 1. We’re now working on version 2, which is in preparation.”
The new Glass would need to be dramatically different to get the privacy concerns out of the way. The built-in camera is a big issue and it is unclear how Google would find a work around. There are other means to created augmented displays that do not require a camera.
In the meantime other augmented reality glass developers appear on the scene. Last week we reported about the Recon Jet.
