- Google Announces That Its New Chromebook Pixel 2 Will Be Released Soon
Google has confirmed that its second generation Chromebook Pixel is coming soon.
The last Google Chromebook was released in 2013. Google’s rep announced at this week’s Team Work 2015 that Google will be releasing the Chromebook Pixel 2.
Google’s Renee Niemi also announced that Google will only be making a small number of Chromebook Pixel 2 units. The Chromebook Pixel 2 is entirely made for developers.
Renee said that the new Pixel will be coming out shortly. Renee also said that the new Pixel is a development platform. She said that their developers and Googlers consume 85% of what the company is going to make.
OMG! Chrome! recorded video of Renee’s announcement on posted it on YouTube. However, later on, Google pulls down announcement video and makes the video private.
Google will make sure that their new Pixel 2 will retain the look and design of the original. It would eventually save them money when they don’t make complicated designs.
The new Chromebook Pixel 2 will have a 12.85-inch screen with high resolutions. It will come with built in fans and will have the latest reversible Type C USB ports.
The first Chromebook brought many features to us. It was the first Chrome device to have a touchscreen, light bar and a really fast processor. So we can expect new features in the upcoming Chromebook Pixel 2.
It is rumored that the new device will have Chromium’s new Freon pseudo display server replacement. It could also sport Intel’s new Skylake processor. The original Chromebook allowed developers to make high resolution websites and it also enabled them to add touch support for their sites. So we can expect some new and better hardware to this new Chromebook so that we can push web forward. We can expect the new Pixel to be launched at the Google I/O 2015.
