Google Search Analytics Launched in Web Master Tools

Google officially announced the new Search Analytics feature in Webmaster tools.

Want to know if Mobilegeddon had an impact on your site? The new Search Analytics feature in Google’s Webmaster Tool has the answer. Until now, this data was shown in the Search Queries report, which was not very useful. The new Search Analytics report enables you to break down your site’s search data and filter it in many different ways in order to analyze it more precisely.

There are some differences between Search Analytics and Search Queries. Data in the Search Analytics report is much more accurate than data in the older Search Queries report, and it is calculated differently.

The search data is still not current. The newest data is 3 days old.

The old Search Queries data is still available. Some users have built tools to work with the data and Google is not letting them hanging dry.

Google has released a help section for the new Search Analytics features here.

Speaking of Mobilegeddon. The impact seems to still be rather moderate. There are no huge gains for mobile optimized sites and we have not seen an outcry from sites that have lost traffic. The Panda update was much more dramatic for web site owners.
