Google Street View Hunts Loch Ness Monster

Google took its Street View cameras to Loch Ness in search for the famous but shy Loch Ness Monster.

It all started 1934 with a photo showing what looked like a diplodocus holding his head out of the water. The legend of the Loch Ness Monster has been born. The “Surgeon’s Photograph” has since proved as hoax, but the legend remains and helped the Loch Ness lake region to world-wide fame and tourist interest. 

Now Google stomps out all remaining hope that Nessie is real with recording a 360-degree Street View of the lake including under water. The water is though filled with peat, so you cannot see much.

Loch Ness stretches for 23 miles southwest of Inverness. It is not the largest Scottish loch by surface area nor depth, but it has the largest by volume, containing more freshwater than all the lakes of England and Wales combined.
