The new 5.1 version will bring along pop-up notifications and adjustable font sizes

Google was perhaps just a bit too excited about the launch of the next Android Wear version and with all this excitement it forgot to tell the world what the latest version number would be. There were some exciting new details on the new version including the Wi-Fi connectivity and the new navigation style and even we forgot that at the end of the announcement we didn’t even know what this new version is called.

There is, however, nothing to worry about because Sony has got it covered for us. Yes, Sony. Not Google. It is not every day that you make such an important announcement and accidentally skip such a major part. Even before Sony revealed the tiny detail, many of us had already speculated the new version number to be 5.1 naturally and that’s exactly what Sony has confirmed.

Here are a few other things besides the version number which Sony thought we ought to know;

Sony says that the Android Wear update is going to make your smartwatch much like a smartphone with the pop-up notifications while you are busy looking at something else or have another app opened. This serves the purpose for a smartwatch because you are not going to miss any updates whether important or not. Android Wear is also making things pretty interesting by letting users experiment with adjustable font sizes.

Sony’s announcement regarding these details perhaps for the Smartwatch 3 but it is highly probable that these features apply to all Android Wear devices.
