The famous golfer, Greg Norman, nearly lost the use of his hand in a chainsaw accident. He was saved by the skin of his teeth.
Greg Norman nearly loses Hand in Accident
Also called the Great White Shark by his fans, Greg Norman, a master golfing champion from the Land Down Under, nearly lost his left hand awhile ago. He was cutting down a tree with his chainsaw when a mishap or slip of the hand occurred.
His left hand almost got cut off in the tragedy that was to ensue. According to Greg, in an attempt to make light of the accident, at least he can still play tennis.
59-year-old Greg Norman has earned himself a name in the Hall of Fame and he is currently a hero of economic life. He was recently chopping off some extra foliage from the trees at his South Florida residence when he lost control of the chainsaw and nearly lopped off his left hand.
It was the heavy weight of a tree branch which literally dragged his arm down towards the chainsaw and before he even knew it his left hand was in contact with the whirling steel blade of the chainsaw.
The blade hit the area where one would normally wear a watch. According to the general practitioners who are currently treating him in the hospital, he could have ended up severing his hand and lost a lot of blood since an artery was missed by sheer chance.
Greg is recovering from this horrifying accident. In a telephonic interview he said that he still thanks God Almighty that the blade hadn’t been running on full speed otherwise he would have lost his left hand.
“At least I can still play tennis,” Norman said in the telephonic interview. “Thank God the blade wasn’t running full speed or it would have taken my hand off.”
He said that although there was some damage to the nerves in the region, he had emerged unscathed from this fearsome accident.
Norman added, “I handled everything as calmly as I could. There is no major damage. There is nerve damage, but no muscular damage. They fixed me up and here I am.”
Greg sure is lucky that no muscle paralysis has taken place. Greg even shared a pic online of him in the hospital bed with his hand all wrapped up in a lot of bandages. A purple wad of foam protects his injured left hand and it will be some time before he is rid of this hindrance.
“Working with a chainsaw ALWAYS be respectful of the unexpected. I was one lucky man today. Damaged, but not down & out. Still have left hand,” Norman captioned the above Instagram.
He also posted another pciture on Sunday morning in which Norman was standing in his yard while making a thumbs-up sign with his right hand and holding the purple wad of foam in his left hand.
Norman captioned the above Instagram, “Thank u all for your concern & good wishes. All well the morning after the accident. Here I am at the scene of the crime w/my new fashion statement!”
