Harry Shearer, who voices Mr. Burns, is leaving ‘The Simpsons’ after contract disputes!

Harry Shearer who voices numerous characters on the hit animated series ‘The Simpson’ will not be returning for the next seasons. Harry’s contract has not been renewed by Fox after there were some disputes and the veteran voice will be leaving the series.

Harry Shearer announced the news on his twitter account that he is no longer attached to the iconic series ‘The Simpsons’ and will not be a part while the show moves forward. Harry also described the development as an opportunity for him to meddle his talents in other work projects now that he is not busy with ‘The Simpsons’ and it will give him the freedom which he always wanted to do other work.

Harry provides the voice for four of the characters on the show which include Mr Burns, Ned Flanders, Waylon Smithers and Principal Skinner and won an Emmy award for his work in the past. Harry has been with the show since it was created on The Tracey Ullman Show in 1989 but will not be returning for the season 27th and 28th of the show ‘The Simpsons’.

In the latest negotiations being carried out Harry was the only one on holdout while the rest of the talents have already been signed for the 27th and 28th season. The reason for the holdout could be the tweet Harry posted on his Twitter handle criticizing the network Fox for not announcing the names of the voiceover cast in its official renewal press release.

Previously the voice cast actors had disputes with the network when they were not given the raise they wanted and even stopped coming to script reading in 2004, however the issue was soon resolved. The Fox network has not commented on Harry Shearer’s departure.
