HP pairs with Michael Bastian to produce MB Chronowing smartwatch

High-tech meets high-style in the not so contemporary smartwatch which comes with no touch screen and microphone

Since the smartphone industry started moving towards saturating which has already led to bigger companies facing losses, many have turned towards the wearable segment with high hopes. Those who were in the phone industry started capitalizing on this growing trend and with the growing popularity of smartwatches, the tech companies are going in too for a good share.

And HP has decided to take its slice of the cake. With so many same offerings in the wearable market looking the same, we are glad to know that HP isn’t just going for the contemporary feature-rich platform. Instead the tech giant has decided to focus more on style and in this quest for the ultimate looks, it has partnered with Michael Bastian in order to produce the classic watch look and durability. The MB Chronowing is the perfect result of the partnership of the two companies and is unabashedly guy-sized.

The difference would stroke you instantly upon taking a first look at the gadget and it is pretty much a turn off for some who are used to seeing the wearbles in the market with touch screens. This smartwatch by HP does not come with the regular touch screen neither a microphone. The gadget is not even going to beep and it doesn’t have the ability to track your steps or measure your heart rate. However, this might not entirely be a bad thing since Mr. Bastian explained this in the following way;

“How many times have you been in a lunch and someone keeps checking their phone?” The new smartwatch he says is “intended to make you more polite” and allows you to discreetly cast a glance at your wrist as opposed to staring at it for long had it been a more tech related watch. It has very gentle vibrations which are not too loud to cause disturbance but are good enough to alert the user. The device works with iPhone or Android so that “your phone isn’t dictating which watch you can wear,” and comes with a clock dial on the front since “that’s the thing you’re going to use 99% of the time.” Don’t expect to see proper hands, they have been rendered with the help of the monochrome LCD display.

The LCD display of the watch also shows messages, the weather, stock prices and other info. The battery is expected to go up to a seven days and the watch is going to start selling on November 7th in two different versions including a limited edition all-black model with a sapphire-glass crystal and an alligator strap for $649 and the ordinary one for $349.
