Some experiments had been going on under the roof in Microsoft but looks like HP took the lead and brought its PC to life which featured a built-in projector and multi-touch capacitive touch mat. It was surprising at all to see how HP Sprout was the latest design from the company and got so much popularity as it goes completely without a mouse and keyboard and is based entirely on a system which supports touch interactions. The PC comes with a traditional 23-inch touchscreen display but at the base there is an interactive touch mat that you use to control projected objects and applications.
As far as the projector is concerned it hangs over the top of the screen like a lamp and holds inside a 4-camera system thanks to Intel’s RealSense 3D camera, a 14.6-megapixel high-resolution camera, a HP DLP projector, and an LED desk lamp. That’s too much to take in for one go but the PC allows you to do things such as let people scan and manipulate 2D and 3D objects directly into the PC. Moreover, users of the PC can also use a stylus to draw on the touch mat and move scanned objects around.
A software keyboard projected on your fingers within touch-optimized apps lets you type onto the mat which is the basis for the majority of touch interactions. The specs of the PC also include 1TB of storage, and an Intel i7 processor, so it’s a regular powerful PC. The HP Sprout is now available at stores for a price of $1,899.99 and it has already been sold out on the Microsoft Store. You can still purchase the Sprout with a Nov. 19 delivery at the HP store.
