Instagram Hits 300 Million Monthly Users To Surpass Twitter
  • Verified badges for famous accounts
  • Spam and fake accounts deleted

Instagram is going towards keeping things real with introducing verified badges

In what doesn’t seem to be so surprising, Instagram has managed to become the largest social platform after having crossed Twitter. Only nine months earlier, the app has announced that it had reached 200 million users and now it has revealed that around 300 million users get on the app on a monthly basis and out of these 300 million people, 70 percent reside outside the US. So Twitter, which announced having 284 million active users six weeks ago, has officially been beaten down by Instagram.

For the past four years, Instagram has continued to grow tremendously and with 70 million pictures shared on the platform on a daily basis, we can say that the app has managed to slash down all rumors suggesting that its acquisition by Facebook would mess it up somehow. The app’s CEO Kevin Systrom says that “Over the past four years, what began as two friends with a dream has grown into a global community.” In the mobile world, Facebook has certainly created an impact which has left us speechless – 1.35 billion users for Facebook, 500 million for its Messenger and 600 million for Whatsapp. We can’t possibly explain success in any better words.

Instagram has managed to achieve a strong and steady growth pace and now it is looking for ways to move forward in regards to authenticity. Famous accounts such as those belonging to celebrities, athletes and bands for instance are soon going to receive certified badges which will help people in avoiding other look-alike accounts. This is the same tactic which Twitter had used and it managed to gain a lot of user confidence and last year Facebook followed suit by verifying profiles.

This approach to keep things real has pushed Instagram to review the fake accounts and instead of just deactivating them, it is going to delete them altogether. So in case you see your follower accounts slipping slightly, don’t be too worried.
