An Instapurge has occurred in the Current Year

An Instapurge of sorts has occurred on Instagram in the current year. And the top 100 accounts have been affected.

There has been an Instapurge that has left Instagram followers reeling. Basically, it was a crackdown on millions of spammers on Instagram and the result is that many people have been thrown out of the game.

Instagram’s upset users have been literally pleading the case with the site owners not to eliminate their accounts but the request has fallen on deaf ears. It is all to no avail. In particular, celebrity accounts have been hit hard by this massive cleansing on Instagram.

Kendall and Kylie Jenner have been separated from hundreds of die hard followers. Other celebrities have even lost up to a million aficionados.

Take Beliebers, those worshippers of Justin Bieber. They have been chopped off to the extent of 3.5 million. Now that is a huge number.

Akon, another singer and musician has lost so many that his ratings have gone from 4.3 million fans to 1.9 million. Again it is quite a setback.

Others are not so lucky. The rap artist, Ma$e was left high and dry as far as followers were concerned. He felt so bad about it that he shut down his account permanently. The celebs have been damaged beyond repair.

One of the commentators said that the Instagram bloodbath was hilarious. Of course, the man said it tongue-in-cheek. Someone else remarked that it should be declared a holiday. So many people have had their digital universes crumble into anonymity. Many people however don’t see eye to eye on this matter.

They have taken to cyberspace to complain and have even tried to entreat Instagram to allow them back on the account pages. But the owners and administrators of Instagram have reiterated that they have simply removed spammy content on the site. And this was their right and ought to have been done too.

The rules and regulations determined what could be done and what was strictly off limits. And so the ultimate purge has taken place and the very foundations of Instagram has been shook to the core.

Especially the teenagers and celebs are pretty annoyed at this diversion and unnecessary source of conflict. They want their rightful place on Instagram back and that too pronto! However, others with their wagging tongues have taken it with a grain of salt.
