Intuit is selecting a small business in a competition that will get their own Super Bowl Ad. This is a fun idea. What will a Super Bowl Ad do for a small business? Make it big or destroy it?
Business Software maker Intuit (QuickBooks, TurboTax, Quicken, …) has an interesting Super Bowl ad promotion. In the Small Business Big Game program, sponsored by Intuit QuickBooks the company selects a small business to get its own Super Bowl ad. There are four small business left in the competition:
Barley Labs, of Durham, N.C. – Produces all-natural dog treats in various flavors out of recycled barley from a local brewery.
GoldieBlox, of Oakland, Calif. – Is a toy company inspiring girls to push limits and think outside the box.
Locally Laid Egg Company, of Duluth, Minn. – Raises hens on pasture to produce healthier poultry and eggs.
POOP – Natural Dairy Compost, of Nampa, Idaho – Produces natural and odorless composted dairy manure for lawns, gardens and flowerbeds.
“What a wide-ranging and deserving group!” said Brad Smith, Intuit president and chief executive officer. “Tens of thousands of small businesses entered this contest, and these finalists demonstrate the breadth of entrepreneurship across the United States. Although the field is down to just four, this effort shined a light on the contributions and importance of all small business to our economy.”
We already know one of the companies above. GoldieBlox was in the news end of last year for their copyright battle with the Beastie Boys.
The winning small business has been determined through online voting. Intuit has not yet revealed which company won. See more details on the Small Business Big Game site.
Super Bowl 2014 will take place in New Jersey on February 2, 2014. The big game will be played in the Metlife stadium in East Rutherford. It will be the first outdoor, cold-weather Super Bowl.
