Apple says that the company received a record number of pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus overnight.

Apple’s iPhone success story continues with the iPhone 6. Apple opened pre-order for the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus midnight on Friday. Carrier sites and the Apple Store suffered outages in the first couple of hours. The larger iPhone 6 Plus sold out just after 2 hours.

If you order an iPhone 6 Plus now you have to wait 3 to 4 weeks to get it. The iPhone 6 has a shipping delay of 7 to 10 business days.

Apple revealed now that the company received a record number of pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus  overnight. Apple spokes woman Trudy Muller said (via Reuters): “Response to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has been incredible, with a record number of pre-orders overnight. Pre-orders are currently available online or through the Apple Store App.”

AT&T’s Ralph de la Vega revealed earlier that the carrier had more orders for the iPhone 6 than they got for the iPhone 5S.

Apple is set to continue to make a ton of money from their iPhone business. If the new Apple Watch will also become a cash cow remains to be seen. I have though the feeling that the Apple Watch will be huge because of the little “viral” features. The Real Touch messaging is likely the most important feature of the Apple Watch that will make it a huge hit. You can for instance transmit your heartbeat or tap someone on the wrist remotely. Also cool is the remote drawing feature.
