Isabella Rossellini has long been Cannes film festival alum but now she will add judging to her duties. Isabella Rossellini has recently been announced as the Un Certain Regard Jury president of the Cannes film festival.

The choice is a notable one as Isabella is already an actress and a director and she will be asked to preside over a judging panel. The panel over which Isabella will reside is actually a companion to the official Cannes competition reserved for new and innovative films.

Isabella Rossellini is the daughter of Ingrid Bergman and Robert Rossellini which makes her cinematic royalty but Isabella has also established her own worth in the cinematic world as she has already appeared in four Official selection films of Cannes.

Isabella’s film selected by Cannes film festival include 1987 film Tough Guys Don’t Dance, Wild At Heart in 1980, The Imposters in 1998 and the 2008 film Two Lovers, according to THR.

Moreover Isabella was already set to appear in Cannes this year before the judging position was announced, to pay tribute to her mother Ingrid Bergman.  A documentary called ‘In Her Own Words‏’ created by Stig Bjorkman based on the life of Ingrid Bergman is set to screen at Cannes this year based on Bergman letter with her husband and official accounts.

The documentary will be shown as part of the Cannes Classic section attended by Isabella and she will also be launching her own Ingrid Bergman tribute at the festival.

One of the duties of Isabella the half Italian actress will include choosing a winner from the 20 films in the competition, from a pool of unconventional and new filmmakers. The official list of the films in the competition will released this coming Thursday.
