J.K. Rowling reveals that there will be an American version of Hogwarts featuring in the new prequel based movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Potter fans always knew that there were wizarding schools worldwide. We saw Durmstrangs from Bulgarian and Beauxbaton from France, there were bound to be more. There were American witches depicted at the Quidditch World Cup in the Goblet of Fire. So the question does arise somewhere in the mind that where they went to school.

In a fan Q&A, author J.K. Rowling revealed that there is indeed an American Hogwarts that exists. The subject was brought up as the prequel to the Potter franchise, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will feature the famous wizoologist Newt Scamander will go around the world looking for the fantastic beasts. That includes his voyage to America. Rowling revealed that the movie will feature the American Hogwarts.

It got the fans talking and Rowling further revealed that the school was founded on the Native American culture. A fan asked if the school’s name is also relevant to the Native American culture. To which Rowling said that revealing the name would disclose its location. The general area of the school location has been revealed to be in New York.

It should be considered that Rowling said New York not New York City and when it comes to Native American culture, it might be situated near Syracuse. Syracuse is a hub of educational reform and universities and it has a rich Native American culture. It also has a lot of forests where Newt might have found some great beasts.
