Jared Leto to play The Joker in WB’s Sucide Squad

After winning an Oscar and a Golden Globe for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, the star is being approached to work in various movies.
The 30 Seconds to Mars front man has been busy with band activities.

Jared is known for his method acting which involves him taking his body to extremes which include dying his hair blonde for The Fight Club, his extreme weight loss for Requiem and donning on weight for Chapter 27.

His efforts paid off as he won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for his transformation as a transgender AIDS patient in Dallas Buyers Club along with Matthew Mcconaughey. The actor is also politically involved in various movements and is the front man for the rock band 30 Seconds to Mars.

After his triumphant win this year at the awards, his acting credibility has definitely reached the highest point. Hollywood is eager for more Leto as he took a hiatus from acting to work on his music. One of the projects approaching him to sign on is WB Suicide Squad.

Jared is being offered to play the Joker in the movie. The character is not originally a part of the story but Justin Marks would definitely write him in if Leto says yes. The project is being directed by David Ayer and produced by Chris Roven. The cast already comprises of Will Smith, Tom Hardy and Margot Robbie.

Cara Delevingne was recently signed on the project for her role as Harley Quinn and Jesse Eisenberg is also being approached to play Lex Luthor in the movie. Suicide Squad is about a bunch of super villains who are given a redemptive chance to go on a world saving mission that could claim their lives.

The evil super heroes already include Deadshot, King Shark, Captain Boomerang and Harley Quinn. It would be sad if Batman’s arch enemy is not included in the line-up. Ryan Gosling was approached to play the role first but he refused. So the studio is circling around Leto for the role. Leto was also approached to play Dr. Strange by Marvel.

Leto’s spokesman hasn’t commented yet on what his decision might be. Leto, however, has commented that he has his eye on a role. He didn’t reveal for sure which one it was as he said his mouth was completely shut but there could sure be an inclination towards him being the next Joker.

“I do [have my eye on one project]. I am excited about what’s happening,” he told THR. “There are incredible opportunities and I’m very grateful for them. I’m looking forward to making films again now that the tour is wrapping up. It’s going to be an exciting 2015.” “I’ve sworn to keep my mouth shut but I think that very shortly there will be something to talk about, that’s for sure,” he said.

The role has already won Heath Ledger an Oscar for portraying the villain in Bruce Nolan’s The Dark Knight. Not sure if it would be an extension from Nolan’s Joker but it would definitely heighten Leto’s acting credits if he signs on this one.
