Giant yellow ring is 10-carats
Former Playboy Playmate of the year Jenny McCarthy has announced that she is engaged. McCarthy was previously with funny man Jim Carrey. McCarthy has been dating Donnie Wahlberg, the former singer for The New Kids on the Block and actor that has been in movies and on TV. Wahlberg gave McCarthy a 10-carat yellow sapphire ring that is massive.
McCarthy talked about her engagement, and showed off her ring on her talk show View. The giant ring was created by Daniel Arik of Newport Jewelers reports E Online.
“Donnie was referred to us by a good friend,” Arik tells E! News. “He came in just before St. Patrick’s Day. He had an idea of what he wanted and was part of the design process.”
“When he first came in, we showed him a few rings and he chose bits and pieces from each ring that he liked, we then combined what he liked and created a custom ring,” he explained.
The yellow color of the stone was a choice made by Jenny. Apparently, the engagement wasn’t a surprise. The band of the ring is made from 18k white gold that is covered with diamonds.
“He was blown away, he absolutely loved it,” Arik added.
There is no word on what the ring cost, but with the size and quality it had to be expensive.
