A Youtuber uploaded the Katy Perry ESPN segment in decent quality. You can watch it below.

The Katy Perry Story:

Katy Perry was born in Santa Barbara, California. Both her mother and father were conservative Christians who had lived in their youth as hippies and had been there and done that as far as libertinism was concerned. They wanted to instill a solid sense of morals and virtue in their daughter. When you climb up Perry’s family tree you discover that she has Portuguese, German, Irish and English blood running through her veins. The mixed breeding sure came in handy as far as her innovative mind is concerned.

Perry has a brother who is younger in age to her and she has an older sister. Katy seems to have had a case of “Malcolm in the Middle” syndrome. She was neither the elder and hence didn’t bear all the responsibility of taking care of the youngsters in the family, nor was she the youngest and thus she was not the family favorite. Maybe that is why she found consolation and peace in her genuine musical artistic creations.

Half her life (till her teenage years) Katy remained strictly tied to the churches and gospel atmosphere of religious music. Her family members had to struggle to pay the bills sometimes. But they made sure that their children had no contact with anything devilish or bearing the slightest secular aura of humanism. Perry got a brand new guitar for her 13th birthday. She began earnestly practicing and also began recording her vocal sessions. Some other interests of her included: rollerblading, surfing and skateboarding. And you can’t be careful on a skateboard…now…can you!? Perry was a very gawky and awkward teenager. But soon when the curves started coming, she developed her feminine charms and wiles.

Soon Perry started taking dancing lessons and learnt how to do the jitterbug. And after going through various learning experiences (both formal and informal) she emerged a rising starlet and songstress on the scene. Her albums and songs wowed the audiences and the crowds crowed and went rowdy with joy at her concerts. Her tours included the Prismatic World Tour and the California Dreams Tour. She has been a judge on American Idol and has also collaborated with Kanye West, Elton John and Rihanna on many songs of hers. She got married to Russell Brand almost half a decade ago but two years into their marriage the two decided to divorce one another. She has been with singer John Mayer ever since.

Among the ten thousand influences that have shaped and molded her musical style /4/be included such illustrious names as: Amy Grant, Queen (Eddie Mercury in particular), The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Alanis Morissette, Jonie Mitchell, Madonna (that iron siren who keeps evolving like a chameleon that changes its colors at the drop of a hat), Gwen Stefani, Bjork, Jack Kerouac and Eckhart Tolle.
