Nickelodeon’s own Kids’ Choice Awards are a fun event for kids to vote on what they think is best of the year. 2015’s event didn’t disappoint with awesome speeches, great slimings, and Nick Jonas digging at One Direction’s Zayn Malik’s recent departure.
Nickelodeon’s 2015 Kids’ Choice Awards arrived on Saturday, March 28, with Nick Jonas hosting at Inglewood’s Forum in California.
Variety reports that Nick Jonas poked fun at his boyband breakup with brothers Joe and Kevin in The Jonas Brothers when alluding to Zayn Malik’s departure from One Direction earlier this week.
“A lot of girls in the house are still struggling after One Direction became two directions.”
And if anyone listens to the fans around the world are still in the stages of grief over the 1D split. And possibly adding a little more salt to the wound is the fact the former fivesome Favorite Music Group.
But the host didn’t walk away unslimed, either. And as Bustle points out, a game of “Truth or Dare” with Jennette McCurdy (Sam & Cat) ended up as “Dare or Dare.” So the guy had to drink a cup of slime…for a starter. By the end of the evening, the singer was covered in slime.
Probably not the original apple sauce concoction, either.

The KCAs are meant to be fun and really enjoy the often long process of handing out awards. By covering the guests and winners in slime, it’s a call back to early Nick-hit You Can’t Do That on Television and Double Dare. You /4/have heard of one of You Can’t cast member: Alanis Morissette.
Even Favorite Movie Actress winner Emma Stone put her hands into the slime. Of course, the Modern Family cast ended up with the first douse as the slime oozed out of the ceiling and covering actors. Sarah Hyland and Jesse Tyler Ferguson brace for the bath as the first bits fall.
Later, Nick Jonas won the coveted orange blimp for best male singer, which was handed to him by surprise guest Jennifer Lopez. He also performed a medley of “Chains” and “Jealousy” for the crowd.
But the most poignant moments when Angelina Jolie won for Favorite Villain. The Maleficent start hugged and celebrated both of her children, Zahara and Shiloh, and walked up on stage and delivered a powerful, yet short speech wearing a large smile.
“I want to say that when I was little, like Maleficent, I was told I was different. And I felt out-of-place. And then one day, I realized something—something I hope you all realize. Different is good.” She paused for a moment, setting off alarm bells for many US parents.
“And as your villain, I would also say: cause a little trouble. It’s good for you.” The crowd of 11,700 screaming kids and fans roared approval at the mother-of-six winked, a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
Doubtless, many parents are groaning at the thought of the hijinks soon to come. But overall, the screaming crowd enjoyed the night where Adam Sandler slimed Josh Gad (Olaf from Frozen), seeing Iggy Azalea perform “Trouble” with Jennifer Hudson, and Liam Hemsworth took home a host of awards for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Pt 1.
Also, kids learned a valuable lesson: never listen to Nick Cannon.
