The Krüger&Matz Smartwatch Classic runs a custom Linux build on a MediaTek Aster chipset and costs PLN 350 ($94/€83).
Smartwatches have been gaining considerable popularity and although there is a lot of scope for popularity, manufacturers have been keeping an eye out for open spots in the market which they could take. Even the most unexpected of the names have hopped on to the wearables bandwagon and among them is Krüger&Matz, a popular Polish company. The Krüger&Matz Smartwatch Classic we are referring to, has a custom Linux build which is powered by a MediaTek Aster chipset and has been priced at PLN 350 ($94/€83).
The smartwatch does all that you would expect from any smartwatch today; you can receive texts and calls thanks to the mic and loudspeaker and you can also control the music player and camera. You will be able to handle all these features from the 1.6″ touchscreen which has a 240 x 240px resolution and single hardware button. Your smartphone will connect to the watch using the Bluetooth 4.0+LE.
The measurements of 45x40x11mm show that the watch is a bit thicker than the average wearables but it is considerably lighter and weighs only 50.3g. The outer body has been designed out of metal, while the 20mm strap is silicone. In addition to this, the Krüger&Matz Smartwatch Classic is IP67 certified which means it can survive after being submerged in 1 m water for about 30 seconds.
